She soon realized and agreed that it was the right thing to do at the time. Jaina was very hurt by the decision, but did not fight him. Arthas abruptly ended the relationship so Jaina could focus on her magical studies in Dalaran and he could focus on his commitments to Lordaeron. Eventually Arthas questioned whether the two of them were ready to be together. They were very much in love with one another. Over the years, they grew close as friends, and then romantically. Jaina saw the fall of Lordaeron firsthand and - guided by a mysterious prophet - rallied what survivors she could and fled across the sea to Kalimdor. She was escorted by her childhood friend and one-time romantic interest, Prince Arthas Menethil, to uncover if the plague had magical origins. Early in the Third War, Antonidas dispatched Jaina to discover what was happening in the northlands of Lordaeron.
